HERE ARE OUR PLANS –

  • We are asking every Rotarian in the area to do whatever you can to assist us in achieving our goal. 
  • Spread the word at work, your church, other service clubs, anyone, that we are people of action and we want to help those who have now had this disaster added to the already onerous stress of the pandemic.
  • Collect as many of the Urgent Need items, below, in as large a quantity as you can.
  • If someone wants to donate money, it will be utilized to purchase items still needed.  Make checks out to Mattoon Rotary Charities Foundation.
  • Collections –
    • Donations can be taken to Slumberland Furniture in Mattoon. Charleston & Sullivan, coordinate with Mike Martin
    • We will also be accepting donations at the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing on Friday, August 28 at the Mattoon Golf and Country Club. The Slumberland truck will be there.
    • To arrange for the pick-up of donations, please call 217-259-3120 (Mike Martin).
  • We will load our transport on Saturday.  Volunteer will be appreciated.
  • On Sunday, August 30, we head to Cedar Rapids.

DISTRICT 6490 – Want to help?

  • We will  make stops in Arcola, Tuscola, Champaign, Mahomet, Bloomington-Normal, and perhaps Peoria.
  • If you wish to support our disaster assistance, coordinate the pickup of your donations at one of the above stops with President Mike at 217-259-3120.
    • If you club is not on one of the stops, above, you would need to also coordinate bringing it to a pick-up location.
    • We will need you to estimate of the amount of space your donations would occupy.

  • Peanut butter
  • Laundry/Dish soap, cleaning supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers – Newborn, 5/6 (HUGE need)
  • Bottled water
  • Tents & Sleeping bags

Things that cannot be accepted/do not need

  • No Clothes/shoes
  • No Prescriptions
  • No Bedding/blankets
  • No Toys/stuffed animals
